Ian Douglas Smith, GCLM ID, (born 8 April, 1919) was the Premier of the British Crown Colony of Southern Rhodesia from 13 April, 1964 to 11 November, 1965, and Prime Minister of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) from 11 November, 1965 to 1 June, 1979, when Rhodesia was ruled by its white minority.

Smith is perhaps best remembered for signing the colony's Unilateral Declaration of Independence from the United Kingdom.
