Mossbank is a village in north east of the Shetland Mainland. It was the origional location of the inter island ferry to the island of Yell. The village was profoundly changed in the early 80's when construction began on the near by Sullom Voe oil Terminal. Large amounts of temporary accommodation where errected to house the construction workforce, with the popultation expanding from the low hundreds in the early 70's to the low thousands a decade later.

Mossbank and its ajoining area of Firth are in the parish of Delting. Along with a stone memorial at the entrance to the village, many abandoned croft houses still stand on the hill across Firth Voe from Mossbank. These comemorate the infomus Delting Disaster of 21 December 1900 when twenty two local fishermen where lost during a storm, decimating the comunity.
