Union generally means an organization formed to conduct an activity. Depending on its context, it can have several other meanings.
Organization
- Trade union, a workers' organization (called a "labor union" in American English)
- Credit union, a co-operative financial institution
- Personal union, separate, independent states that share the same monarch
- Political union, a type of state composed of smaller states
- Poor Law union, a group of parishes providing relief (United Kingdom, 16th century - 20th century)
- Rugby union, a type of rugby football
- Civil union, a commitment ceremony similar to marriage
- Students' union, an organization on many university campuses which organizes students.

- African Union, an inter-governmental organization in Africa.
- Government of India, officially the Union Government.
- European Union, an inter-governmental organization in Europe.
- Political union, the state of unification between two or more states
- Union (American Civil War), the northern states that did not secede.
- United States Republican Party, known as the Union Party during the 1864 election.
- The Union (l'Unione), the Italian coalition that won the April 2006 general elections

Alberta Union of Public Employees (AUPE) - Represents public sector workers employed by the Alberta government.
B.C. Government Employees' Union (BCGEU) - Represents 60,000 workers in 400 bargaining units in British Columbia.
Health Sciences Association of British Columbia - A union representing over 10,000 health care and social service professionals in British Columbia, Canada.
Manitoba Government Employees Union (MGEU) - Represents 27,000 provincial public workers in Manitoba.
Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) - Represents more than 180,000 active members in 127 bargaining units. NAPE is the largest union in Newfoundland and Labrador. Members work in the government, health care, education, corrections, financial, hospitality, and food processing sectors.
Nova Scotia Government Employees Union - The largest union in the province of Nova Scotia and the recognized bargaining agent for 21,000 public and private sector employees.
NUPGE - National Union of Public and General Employees - Represents 320,000 public service workers. NUPGE is a federation of 13 independent unions representing provincial public sector workers.

Ontario Liquor Boards Employees' Union (OLBEU) - Represents almost 5,000 employees in LCBO retail stores, ware houses and offices as well as at the Duty Free store at the Ambassador Bridge.
OPSEU - The Ontario Public Service Employees Union represents provincial government employees in Ontario.
