Trion is a town in Chattooga County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,993 at the 2000 census. The estimated pop. as of 2006 is 2,001. Trion is the second largest incorporation is Chattooga county, which has a population of appx. 27,000. Trion is known as the denim capitol of the world because of the Mount Vernon (formerly Riegel) manufacturing plant, which employees about 4000 people. The Chattooga river flows through the town. Several locations in Trion are registered historic places.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 10.4 km² (4.0 mi²). 10.3 km² (4.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (0.50%) is water.
