Ford Motor Co. said Thursday that Chief Financial Officer Don Leclair will retire, ending the executive's 32-year career at one of the most tumultuous and uncertain times in the automaker's history. Leclair, 56, originally joined Ford in 1976 and became chief financial officer in 2003. His departure is effective Nov. 1.

General Motors Corp. said in a statement this morning that it is not considering bankruptcy even as its shares drop to historic lows and fears about its liquidity continue to rise amid the global economic turmoil.
