Missouri lawyers recommend that voters retain all judges

Missouri lawyers issued their report card Thursday on 13 area judges, and everybody passed. The report from the Missouri Bar and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association recommended that voters retain all judges on the November ballot in Jackson, Clay and Platte counties. Such judges must face periodic retention elections under Missouri’s nonpartisan court plan.

The family of a man murdered a year ago has added money to the reward fund for finding the killer. Jeffrey Barr, 45, was found shot in the yard of a home in the 2200 block of South Glenwood Avenue in Independence. He died a short time later.

Woman’s death ruled a homicide; Investigators mum on details of case.
By JOE MEYER of the Tribune’s staff Investigators have classified the death of 53-year-old Helen Sanders as a homicide after receiving a completed autopsy report from the Boone County medical examiner’s office this week.

By KAT HUGHES of the Tribune’s staff The leader of a neo-Nazi group said he is willing to work with the city to choose another date for a rally in downtown Columbia after police said the group couldn’t hold the rally on Nov. 8 because of a home University of Missouri football game.
Elementary schools are overloaded; District hires teachers to shrink some classes.
