Police investigate rape claim in VUMC garage

Metro and Vanderbilt police are investigating a claim that a woman was raped in a Vanderbilt University Medical Center garage Tuesday night. The woman claimed she was raped at knifepoint, said VUMC spokesman John Howser. Police charge man in Sept. 30 shooting death

The Metro Police Department has charged a man in the shooting death of Cedric Teasley. Estefvon Murphy, 29, who was charged for the Sept. 30 shooting, was also charged with attempted criminal homicide for shooting a man on Second Avenue South during a dispute that began in a nightclub on Sept. 28, police said. Murphy was serving an eight-year probated sentence for voluntary manslaughter at the time of his arrest Monday.
