Prairie Farm is a village in Barron County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 508 at the 2000 census. The village is located within the Town of Prairie Farm, on eastern shore of the Prairie Farm Flowage, a reservoir on the Hay River.

Sept. 7, 1988: Overcrowding at Fort Howard Elementary School has been relieved by assigning about 100 kindergarteners and first-graders to Jefferson School. Most people have been delighted because their children dont have to walk so far now they have a school in their neighborhood, Gayle Frame, principal for both schools, said. Jefferson School, 800 Phoebe St., is seven-tenths of a mile from Fort Howard at 520 Dousman St. Jefferson was closed as a segregated facility for the mentally retarded at the end of the 1987-88 school year.
