Boonah is a town of approximately 3000 persons and the administrative centre of the Boonah Shire LGA in South EastQueensland, Australia. The town is 84 km south west of the state capital Brisbane. 'Boonah' is the local Aboriginal Australian word meaning 'bloodwood tree' (Corymbia gummifera).
In the 1880s, Adolph, Levi and Max Blumberg opened a small store on the rise where the town is now situated. Locals have named the high part of town 'Blumbergville' after these pioneers.
